Lois Van Roon appointed vice-principal for Dr. Plaxton Elementary School

The Division is also pleased to announced Lois Van Roon has been appointed Vice-Principal of Dr. Robert Plaxton Elementary School, commencing the 2024/2025 school year.
Deeply committed to positive school culture, Van Roon's leadership is based on fostering effective relationships and providing optimal learning experiences for all. Her experience spans 25 years in the division with a focus on literacy, leadership, and inclusion. Van Roon builds cohesive teams and believes in success for all learners.
“Serving as acting Vice-Principal at Dr. Robert Plaxton throughout this school year has been an amazing experience,” said Van Roon. “I am thrilled to continue to work alongside and collaborate with this community as Vice-Principal next year. I am grateful for this opportunity and would like to extend my thanks to the Division. I look forward to furthering our vision, building upon creative practices, imagining innovative projects together and supporting this amazing team. I love learning with you, Plaxton community!" 
Prior to becoming acting Vice-Principal at Plaxton for the 2023/2024 school year, Van Roon’s most recent role was as Vice-Principal and Learning Support teacher at Lethbridge Christian School, where she served Kindergarten through Grade 8. Previously, Van Roon was the Learning Support Teacher at Lakeview Elementary School. She has also taught in several elementary classrooms across the Division.
Van Roon started her post-secondary pursuits at Capernwray Harbour Bible Centre in British Columbia, and then completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Manitoba. She completed her Master of Education in Literacy with additional leadership studies through the University of Lethbridge and graduated in 2020. She enjoys running, cooking, traveling, hiking, reading and spending time with her family.
