École Nicholas Sheran principal Deborah Constable announces her retirement

Congratulations and best wishes to Deborah Constable, who has announced that she will be retiring at the end of this school year.
Constable’s distinguished career is marked by an unwavering commitment to leading quality schools that forward learning and place care for students and staff at the foundation of school culture. Incredibly insightful and possessing a breadth of knowledge, Constable’s ability to organize a school and move things forward is truly unparalleled. As a leader and genuine person, Constable is thoughtful, caring and deliberate in ensuring those around her are supported.
Many staff have had the privilege of working in schools molded by her leadership. A school leader for 25 years, Constable has been a principal at Gilbert Paterson, École Agnes Davidson and most recently, École Nicholas Sheran.
Prior to her principal designations, Constable was an Assistant Principal at Gilbert Paterson. Recognized early on as a master teacher, she taught at École Agnes Davidson and Winston Churchill High School.
It is a rare educator who successfully spans elementary, middle and high school levels in a career. Her deep understanding of learning from K-12 is evident in her leadership.
From the beginning of her teaching career with Lethbridge School Division, Constable has been a pillar of the French Immersion program. Her passion for French Immersion is infectious and grounded in a deep understanding of language development. She was raised at a young age in Quebec and attended a francophone school providing her with the foundation for embracing the French language throughout her career.
There are numerous administrators who have benefitted through the years with her mentorship and guidance. Her commitment to the profession and desire to contribute to development of others was evident in her work with staff and school leader colleagues. She served on more committees than can be listed, and always went above and beyond in providing time and expertise.
Constable is looking forward to having the time to pursue her passions and be with family. Her husband, Tad, a Realtor with Royal LePage for 32 years, son Morgan, a business owner and journeyman carpenter, and son Grayson, attending College and playing NCAA Division 1 hockey, will benefit from the Division's loss of an outstanding leader and educator.
