Raj Mathur appointed vice-principal at Senator Joyce Fairbairn Middle School

Lethbridge School Division is pleased to announce Raj Mathur has been appointed vice-principal at Senator Joyce Fairbairn Middle School, commencing the 2023/2024 school year.
Mathur is a passionate educator who takes pride in creating a safe and caring learning environment for all students and staff. He believes in supporting all stakeholders and providing opportunities to build capacity and the foundation of self-efficacy to enhance student learning.
Mathur firmly maintains that all students are capable learners deserving of rich educational experiences. It is the collective responsibility of all educators to “meet students where they are at” and provide learning opportunities ample in substance and innovative in nature. He is relationship centred and purposeful in connecting and collaborating with staff, parents and the community to create an environment where all school community members feel valued, appreciated and heard.
In addition to his roles as a vice-principal, Mathur has assumed leadership in the areas of inquiry-based learning, generative dialogue, literacy and numeracy and staff professional learning.  
A visible leader and someone who walks the talk, Mathur believes in being an active role model for students and staff. He brings an energy and passion to his role that is infectious.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to join Senator Joyce Fairbairn Middle School as vice-principal,” said Mathur. “I look forward to fostering authentic relationships with students, staff, parents and community members. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work alongside a talented, dedicated staff who value inclusivity, innovation, and collaboration.” 
Mathur has been an educator in Lethbridge School Division for 21 years as a teacher at Gilbert Paterson and Nicholas Sheran Elementary School, and a vice-principal at G. S. Lakie Middle School and currently, Fleetwood-Bawden Elementary School.
He has a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in Political Science and a Minor in Management from the University of Calgary. He also earned his B. Ed. At the U of C., and his completing is Masters of Education graduate degree focusing on Educational Leadership this spring from the University of Lethbridge.
