Government officials take tour of new southside elementary school

Saturday was a day of announcements for projects in southern Alberta.
Alberta Education Minister Adriana LaGrange, Infrastructure Minister Prasad Panda and Associate Minister of Red Tape Reduction Grant Hunter, along with Lethbridge East MLA Nathan Neudorf held a news conference to speak about the three school projects.
Last week, the government announced funding for a new elementary school for west Lethbridge for Lethbridge School Division, along with a replacement grades 7-12 school in Coaldale and the modernization of an elementary school in Milk River.
Lethbridge School Division Board Chair Christine Light was on hand for the announcement, along with Board representatives from Palliser School Division and Horizon School Division. Light commented on how appreciative the Division was for the government’s recognition of the pressing need for additional learning spaces in west Lethbridge.
After the event, a tour of Dr. Robert Plaxton Elementary School was provided, led by Lethbridge School Division’s Daniel Heaton (Director of Facility Services) and Christine Lee (Associate Superintendent).
