Hello and welcome to the on-line home of General Stewart Elementary School. My name is Chris Harris and I am the Principal of General Stewart School. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you about our special community.
I was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta. I am married with four children. I graduated from the University of Lethbridge and I have taught at Chamberlain School in Grassy Lake, as well as 20 years in Lethbridge School District #51 at Nicholas Sheran, Winston Churchill, Mike Mountain Horse and the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute. I have played and coached many different sports, performed in a musical and played the drums and saxophone. I believe in providing students with opportunities to develop into confident, well-rounded global citizens that love to learn.
General Stewart is a very small school of about 110 students from Kindergarten to grade five. The size of our school is also one of its biggest assets as it allows us to get to know each other very well and very quickly. Within our school, staff, students, parents and community members work together to support one another and provide the best possible education for our students. I have always believed that the most important factor in the success of a school is the people within it. Each and every staff member at General Stewart shares a common goal of providing the most rewarding, enriching educational experience that we can. This means helping our students to become well-rounded individuals that are resilient, creative, determined, responsible, curious and happy. The staff at General Stewart truly are second to none and they work diligently to challenge their students to be the best they can be.
The extremely active School Council and parent group is also another reason for the success of our school. They, along with numerous community members, work along with the school in a true team effort to support the education of our students through volunteer work and by helping to provide educational and community building experiences. I would personally like to thank them for their care and generosity.
In conclusion, I am very excited to be part of this outstanding community of learners and to continue and build on the excellent educational programs that General Stewart has always provided. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to come to the office or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. My door is always open and I am willing to help wherever and whenever I can.
