Tracy Wong appointed principal for Winston Churchill High School
Lethbridge School District No. 51 is pleased to announce the appointment of Tracy Wong as principal of Winston Churchill High School, commencing the 2019/2020 school year.
Energetic, insightful, and passionate, Wong’s leadership is characterized by a strong ability to motivate others and compel collective commitment to students. Modeling a growth mindset, Wong believes in the importance of embracing challenges and building resiliency.
Unwavering in her commitment to a culture imbued with growth, she furthers flexible and collaborative practices that drive motivation and frame meaningful learning. She has demonstrated that reflective practice moves others forward and results in innovative thinking.
Wong is a true connector who builds positive relationships with staff and students, grounded in respect and rapport. She understands the importance of teamwork and places importance on drawing from the strength of others through distributed leadership.
“I am honoured to continue to serve the students, staff, and parents of Winston Churchill High School in my new role as principal,” said Wong. “I am proud to work along side an incredibly passionate, committed and caring staff that build nurturing and meaningful relationships with our wonderful students. I am energized by the deep thinking our learning community engages in to support the growth of our students and I am so looking forward to continuing this work.”
Wong’s breadth of experience at the secondary level will contribute to leadership practice that draws from contextual learning. She has been a vice-principal at Chinook High School and is currently serving students and staff as vice-principal at Churchill. She has assumed the roles of a teacher/counsellor, Learning Support and ELL teacher, co-ordinator of AISI at the school level, and has taught a variety of subjects at the high school level.
Tracy completed a B. A. degree majoring in Kinesiology, and a B. Ed degree at the University of Lethbridge. She obtained her Master of Arts in Leadership and Administration with Gonzaga University.
