Sharon Willms-Laing appointed vice-principal at Park Meadows Elementary School

Lethbridge School Division is pleased to announce Sharon Willms-Laing has been appointed vice-principal at Park Meadows Elementary School, commencing the 2021-22 school year.
Willms-Laing has a natural talent for building rapport with staff, parents and students. Her leadership roles have been characterized by an unwavering commitment to supporting students and creating environments where students can thrive as individuals and learners. She is a strong advocate for breaking down barriers to success and building on strengths. She consistently leads with energy, visibility and thoughtfulness. Reflective in her practice, she considers herself a leader guided by her role as lifelong learner and active researcher.
She is a strong believer in collaboration and creating a team perspective to ensure students and families are supported. Willms-Laing has a breadth of knowledge that contributes to supporting students in the areas of inclusive education, trauma informed practices, self-regulation strategies, restorative language and culturally responsive classrooms.
“I am beyond thrilled to accept the position of vice-principal at Park Meadows School,” said Willms-Laing. “Over the last few months, I have been working as the acting vice-principal at Park Meadows and have loved getting to know the staff, students and parents. It is a privilege to continue to work with the amazing staff and build stronger relationships with the community. I look forward to working with the incoming principal and continue along the journey of supporting students through a strength-based lens.”
Currently the acting vice-principal at Park Meadows Elementary School, Willms-Laing has served other schools as acting vice-principal, including Fleetwood-Bawden and Probe elementary schools. She has also assumed the role of Learning Support Teacher at two different schools and has a rich breadth of teaching experience at across elementary school grades. 
Willms-Laing has a Bachelor of Arts degree and Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Lethbridge. She also earned an International Montessori Teaching Diploma. She completed her Masters of Education degree with the University of Lethbridge focusing on Multiple Literacies in Canadian Classrooms.
