Rock Your Mocs at Buchanan and smudging at Victoria Park

Today, Senator Buchanan Elementary School and Victoria Park High School participated in events led by members of the Division's Indigenous Education team.
Victoria Park students participated in a smudge ceremony in the morning, led by Shawnee Big Bull, the
Division's Indigenous Education High School Teacher, along with the school's Indigenous Grad Coach, Val Goodstriker.
Students and staff had the opportunity to participate, and learned about the significance of smudging. 
Melanie Morrow, the Division's Indigenous Education Elementary School Teacher, visited Buchanan for a series of Rock Your Mocs presentations. 
Students learned about the cultural significance of moccasins, how they are made and had the opportunity for an up-close look.
