Megan Cummins appointed vice-principal for École Agnes Davidson

Lethbridge School District No. 51 is pleased to announce the appointment of Megan Cummins as vice-principal at École Agnes Davidson.

Highly committed and forward thinking, her journey as an educator demonstrates a desire to learn, grow and experience different contexts. Cummins believes that education is the development of character and competencies that encourage students to be inquisitive, tenacious, hopeful and active global citizens. She applies the lens of inclusion and views all children from a growth mind-set in schools, where educators develop innovative and purposeful ways to foster lifelong learning. Collaborative and supportive of diverse perspectives, Cummins is someone who works “elbow to elbow” with colleagues so they can learn together and reflect on the application of strategies that impact student learning and well-being.

“I am excited to embark on this new role and to continue working collaboratively with such a wonderful group of people,” she said. “We have an amazing staff that that truly provide a learning environment centred around our school’s vision of ‘endless opportunities/Possibilités Infinies.’ I look forward to continuing to work with our families, staff and students supporting the development of our community members.”

Cummins began her career as a K/1 French Immersion teacher with Holy Spirit. She joined Lethbridge School District as a French Immersion teacher at École Agnes Davidson. She subsequently spent some time at Park Meadows in a multi-age classroom structure. In 2016, she returned to École Agnes Davidson as a Grade 1 French Immersion teacher, then the following year as the Learning Support Teacher. Cummins is a passionate learner who strives to increase her knowledge within any role she assumes. She possesses a deep understanding of inclusive learning, curriculum and pedagogy. She is a strong communicator in both English and French, and strives to maintain ongoing connections and common understandings among staff, parents and students.

Cummins completed a Bachelor of Arts and Education at the University of Lethbridge. She completed her Professional Master of Education with Queen’s University in the fall and will convocate in May.
