Jackie Fletcher appointed Director of Inclusive Education for Division

Lethbridge School Division is pleased to announce Jackie Fletcher has been appointed Director of Inclusive Education, commencing the 2022/2023 school year.
A passionate educator, Fletcher’s 17 years of experience as a teacher and leader frames the inclusive learning perspective and skill set that she brings to this position. Regardless of the role she has played, her moral imperative has been steadfast in advocating for students and their experience as learners in an inclusive school context.
Fletcher’s experience as a Kindergarten/Early Literacy teacher, certified Montessori teacher and Learning Support Teacher has contributed to a solid foundation of knowledge and experience working with colleagues to support students and linking with outside agencies to provide services.
During her years as vice-principal and principal, Fletcher has demonstrated that she builds school culture that is safe, caring and focused on respecting individuality in a place that all students feel valued and have opportunity for growth.
She has also modeled ongoing commitment to growth as a learner and her commitment to building capacity of others individually and collectively as a school community. Her love for learning has been the impetus for seeking best practices and staying abreast of current research. She has a deep understanding of Universal Design for Learning and is able to model the implementation of universal strategies that serve the needs of all students.
Fletcher is a champion for celebrating diversity and developing a school climate that is inclusive and responsive to all perspectives, world views and life stories.

I look forward to continuing to develop and implement inclusive practices that support our students and transform what Inclusive Education can be. I am excited to continue down the path that Inclusive Education is taking within our Division and am grateful to be a part of this journey.”
Fletcher has school leadership experiences as a vice-principal at two schools and is currently serving as principal at Fleetwood-Bawden Elementary School. She is active as a professional contributing to the growth and development of others.
She has been active with the Teacher Induction Program, has served as a mentor for teachers and administrators for over eleven years, was a representative on the division professional learning committee, and was an AISI Lead Teacher for her school when the initiative was launched in the division. Fletcher obtained her Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge. She earned her Masters of Education in 2020 from the University of Lethbridge.
