Galbraith students use 3D printers to create T-Rex skeleton

Over the past few weeks, students at Galbraith Elementary School have been working on 3D printing a T-rex skeleton.
A sandbox was placed in the school’s Makerspace, where staff buried the skeleton. Students have had an opportunity to learn excavation techniques as they work to extract the pieces. Students have also worked to notice patterns between the bones and ways the bones look similar to our own or other animals they know, so that they can begin to figure out how the skeleton might fit together.
Tip-to-tail, the dinosaur measures about 5'8" when all laid out.
The Lethbridge School Division technology team helped print the pelvis and some of the other larger pieces that were too big to fit on the school or personal printers, to help bring the entire project to life.
