Fairbairn enters Spring 2025 CBC Classroom Music Challenge

The Senator Joyce Fairbairn Band and Falcon Steel Band has submitted an entry to the Spring 2025 CBC Classroom Music Challenge!
What Fairbairn created:
• An original arrangement blending wind-ensemble textures with the vibrant rhythms of steel drums
• Performance videos filmed at Senator Joyce Fairbairn Middle School
• Two recorded selections: Takin’ Care of Business (BTO) - Concert band 6-8 and Falcon Steel Band, and Life Is (Arkells) - Featuring the Falcon Steel Band and Grade 8 Concert Band
• Creative storytelling through music celebrating friendship, resilience, and community
Why Fairbairn entered:
• To give young musicians a platform to share their voices on a national stage
• To highlight the power of collaboration between traditional concert band and steel pan.
