Eagles prepare for provincials after ICSS takes home 2A South Zone banner

The Immanuel Christian Eagles senior girls basketball team has captured the 2A South Zone Championship.
ICSS swept through the competition and breezed to an 84-41 win in the final over Coaldale’s Kate Andrews.
Hayden Van’t Land led the way for the Eagles with 28 points, as Halle Aleman added 20.
The win capped off a dominant run for ICSS in zone competition, as the No. 1 ranked Eagles began play with an 87-15 win over F.P. Walshe in the quarterfinal.
Immanuel then earned a huge 76-22 win over St. Mary’s in the semifinal.
The team now prepares for the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association 2A Provincial Championships, which will be hosted by ICSS from March 14-16.
ICSS is ranked No. 1 once again, and will play Thursday at 5 p.m. against the winner of Thursday’s 11 a.m. that will see No. 8 Oilfields take on No. 9 Central Alberta Christian.
If Immanuel wins its Thursday-night game, the Eagles would advance to play Friday at 6 p.m. in the semifinal.
The 2A championship game is set for Saturday at 6 p.m., while the bronze-medal contest will be played Saturday at 4 p.m.
