Division Early Childhood Services Co-ordinator, Isabelle Plomp, announces her retirement

Congratulations and best wishes to Isabelle Plomp, who has announced that she will be retiring at the end of this school year
Recognized provincially as an expert in Early Childhood Education, Lethbridge School Division has had the privilege of her service for eight years; two of those years as Early Childhood Consultant and six years as Early Childhood Co-ordinator.
The Division's Early Education Program (EEP) has flourished under her leadership and represents the magic that can happen with the combination of knowledge, expertise and unwavering commitment. The Kindergarten program has also benefitted over the years with her guidance and leadership. Unassuming, caring and insightful, Plomp has made strong connections with staff, parents and children. She has never faltered in making decisions in the best interest of children and works tirelessly to ensure strong programs and support structures are in place for them.
Plomp is a passionate advocate for young children and families. She is held in high regard by all those who have worked with her.
She spent 30 years with Palliser Regional School Division before coming to Lethbridge School Division (21 years as a Kindergarten teacher, four as a Learning Support Teacher and five as a Division Early Intervention Specialist).
She is one of the few teaching professionals in Alberta who
still possesses a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood (U of L graduate in 1982); she later completed her M. Ed in Early Education at U of A.
Plomp said she feels fortunate to have had a career making a difference in the lives of young children at a foundational/pivotal time in human development that impacts the rest of their life. She has been active in learning about and forwarding brain research findings with her involvement with the U of L neuroscience department.
“Highlights of my career also include the wonderful relationships with families and staff that I’ve been privileged to work with across southern Alberta, particularly the passionate early childhood educators and staff that make life-lasing impacts on young children, as well as the administrators and division staff at Lethbridge School Division that support his important venture," she said. “I am looking forward to more time with family and friends, traveling and time in my large garden and yard.”
