Division announces ratification of MOA with CUPE Local #290

Lethbridge School Division is pleased to announce a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) has been ratified with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local #290.
CUPE 290 represents caretaking and maintenance personnel that ensure our schools are clean and safe places for teaching and learning.
The MOA covers the period from Sept. 1, 2020 to Aug. 31, 2024 and provides for a 1.25-per-cent wage increase effective Sept. 1, 2023 and 1.5-per-cent increase, effective Feb. 1, 2024, which was the maximum allowable in accordance with bargaining directives provided by the Province of Alberta.  Market adjustments were also provided to some classifications, along with the general increases.
"The Board appreciates the work that went into reaching a Memorandum of Agreement by both CUPE 290 and the employer negotiating committees,” said Board Chair Allison Purcell. "After several years of no wage increases, we are pleased that we are now able to provide an increase to CUPE 290. We appreciate the work our employees do each and every day to keep our schools clean and safe.”
