Chinook CANstruction team takes talents to Bikini Bottom

Earlier today, Chinook High School students participated in the local CANstruction YQL event at Centre Village Mall.
CANstruction is an annual event that raises donations for local food banks - with a twist. Teams from various businesses, professional groups or student teams, such as Chinook, use their donations to design and construct a sculpture/structure made out of cans. These are judged for various criteria, and remain on display for the month of March, at which point they are all donated.
Chinook's structure is called, It Takes A (Bikini Bottom) Village.
Students completed a design that featured SpongeBob SquarePants, his friend Gary the Snail, and a Bikini Bottom seascape. The theme gives a nod to the importance of building community, supporting one another and the support the school received from the Chinook community and the greater Lethbridge community throughout the initiative.
The structure consists of over 1,000 cans, as students raised over $2,000 and an additional 150 food items in total donations.
