Cayley King appointed principal for Victoria Park High School

Lethbridge School District No. 51 is pleased to announce the appointment Cayley King as principal of Victoria Park High School and Lethbridge Alternative Programs, commencing the 2019/2020 school year.

King is a master relationship builder whose leadership is built on trust, compassion and commitment. Possessing an unwavering moral imperative to ground decision making and action in what is right for students, she is highly regarded for her work with students and staff across the schools in the District.

She has demonstrated exceptional talent in the ability to analyze context, apply critical thinking, leverage resources and draw from the skills of others. A self-reflective leader, King is relentless in her pursuit of learning and broadening her skills. Learning the true meaning of teamwork early in her career at Wilson Middle School, King gives full attention to building teams that are supportive, constructive, loyal and purposeful. She is articulate and a strong communicator who possesses the ability to network others and build capacity.

“It is an honour to join a staff who demonstrate so much talent, dedication and care,” said King. “The youth who attend Victoria Park High School and the Lethbridge Alternative School Programs are fortunate to be connected to such dynamic people, and I am excited to become a member of this team.  It is my hope that my strong commitment to wellness and education will bring support and leadership to this fine group of people, and that we will grow together in our journey.”

King’s experience as an educator and leader will serve the staff and students of Victoria Park High School and LASP well. Currently the co-ordinator of counselling for Lethbridge School District, she oversees a breadth of services and works with a diverse set of external agencies and services. She was a vice-principal at Wilson Middle School and teacher counsellor at Chinook High School.

King taught for a number of years at Wilson Middle School and Winston Churchill High School. Her list of credentials linked to crisis response, wellness and leadership, is extensive.

Cayley completed a B. A. degree majoring in English with Distinction, and a B. Ed degree with Great Distinction at the University of Lethbridge. She obtained her Master of Arts in Leadership and Administration with Gonzaga University.
