Band programs up and running in Division middle schools

The middle school bands in Lethbridge School Division have been very busy this year getting their programs up and running.
Adding to the challenge is the goal to recover from the impacts of the pandemic. Many music programs in the Division went dormant when the world went into lockdown with the pandemic.
Now, the work of re-building so band programs can return, even better than before, and middle school band teachers have taken this challenge to heart!
Some middle school band programs now consist of up to one third of the entire school population, with 150-200 students participating. This September, as in pre-pandemic, students were able to participate in headstart clinics, where some schools hired local professional musicians to teach beginners the basics of instrument maintenance, assembly and sound production.
Amazing work is being done in the music and band classrooms in our city, as can be seen by the enthusiasm and popularity of band and music programs in the middle and high schools.
Those looking to see for themselves the amazing strides being taken in any of these programs can check out any of the winter concerts being hosted by Division middle and high schools.
