WCHS Cerberus Robotics Club competes in Mecha Mayhem 2025 in Calgary

Winston Churchill High School students hit the road Saturday to participate in Mecha Mayhem 2025 in Calgary.
Three WCHS Cerberus Robotics Club teams competed in the robotics competition, which featured 10 preliminary matches.
Churchill’s Reasonable Robotics squad had the most success at the event, as the team finished with a 5-5 record, good for 39th overall.
Griffin Robotics finished 4-6 and ended up 41st overall, while Caffeine Required also went 4-6 and ended up ranked 46th.
“I feel that if we could have had any teams reach seven wins we likely would have ranked high enough to make the playoffs,” said WCHS teacher Nevin Morrison. “Unfortunately, no Lethbridge teams were able to make it.”
The Churchill team faced stiff competition from school throughout Canada, along with entries from Mexico and the United States.
Morrison added some of the teams Winston students were up against compete in 7-10 tournament each year. For Churchill, Mecha Mayhem 2025 will be the Lethbridge school’s lone tournament appearance this year.
“Despite these factors working against us, we did pretty well,” said Morrison. “That being said, there are still many ways we can improve for next year to help close the gap. Many of our students have already created a list of things we need to buy and things we need to do differently next year to be more successful.  The kids are already excited for next season.”
