ICSS Eagles take home 2A girls ASAA provincial championship

It was a dominant weekend for the Immanuel Christian Secondary School Eagles, as the Lethbridge School Division team played host to the 2A Girls Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association Provincial Championships.
ICSS capped of an undefeated run with a massive 86-53 win in the gold-medal game over Three Hills.
In the championship game, Taylor Withage led the Eagles with 23 points, as she connected on six of her three-point attempts I the contest. Halle Aleman and Hayden Van’t Land each had 20 points for Immanuel, while Nyomi Heins added 11.
The Eagles had to wait until Thursday evening to play its first game of the tournament, as the No. 1 ICSS squad earned a first-round bye.
In that quarterfinal match-up with No. 8 Oilfields, the Eagles came out on top by a score of 86-28.
That dominant win set the tone for the semifinal game against No. 5 Sexsmith, as the Eagles once again cruised through the contest with an 80-28 victory.
In 4A girls provincial play, Lethbridge Collegiate Institute earned bronze with a 74-70 win over Foothills. The Clippers began play as the No. 2 seed and earned a 90-25 win in the first round over No. 15 Charles Spencer. LCI then defeated No. 10 St. Mary’s by a score of 76-61 to advance to the semifinal.
In the semis, the Clippers fell 81-80 to No. 6 Western Canada.
The LCI Rams came into the 4A boys tournament ranked No. 13 and fell in the first round after a 76-53 defeat at the hands of No. 4 St. Francis Xavier.
From there, LCI rolled to a consolation championship with a 76-70 win over No. 11 Sir Winston Churchill. To get there, the Rams beat No. 12 Ross Sheppard by a score of 68-63 and then took down No. 9 Jasper Place 103-97.
