2023/2024 Bus Routes

Bus routes can be found by visiting the Southland Transportation Ltd. website through the link below. Please note school bus routes will continuously be assessed throughout the first two weeks of school with adjustments made as necessary. Routes for 2023/2024 can be found here:

BUS ROUTES

Alberta Education states in the School Act students living beyond 2.4 kilometres are, by the most direct route from their boundary school, or designated Division programs located in specific schools, funded for transportation.

The Division provides busing service to students enrolled in Kindergarten to Grade 12 who are eligible for transportation.

For eligible Grade 1 to Grade 12 students, the Division provides busing to school in the morning and from school after dismissal.

Eligible Kindergarten students in morning programs may access the buses going to the school, and eligible Kindergarten students in the afternoon programs may access the buses going home after school.

Excerpts from Section 51:

(1) Subject to the regulations, a Board shall provide for the transportation of a student to and from the site of the school in which the Board has enrolled the student, if the students resides at the distance from the site of that school to be determined by the regulations, with the attendance area established by the Board, and within the boundaries of the district or division.

(2) The Board shall be deemed to have complied with subsection (1) when transportation is provided on a route that is not more than 2.4 kilometres from the residence of the student.

(4) c. The distance of a residence from a school or from a bus route is the shortest distance measured along a travelled road or public right of way between the school site or the bus route and the lot where the student’s parents reside.

COVID SAFETY

My 1st Ride

On Aug. 26, Nicholas Sheran Elementary School hosted the Third Annual My 1st First Ride.
Lethbridge School Division partnered with Holy Spirit Catholic School Division and Southland Transportation for another successful event.
Southland Transportation Ltd. gave students an opportunity to learn all about school bus safety and protocol, as we prepare for the new year.
My 1st Ride, A Free School Bus Safety Program for First-Time Riders and Parents, included a presentation for students and parents, along with a short ride on a bus to learn the ins and outs of the daily school bus routine.
Hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, coffee and ice cream treats were available, as students and families also had the opportunity to play a wide variety of games.
