Lisa Gomke-Prawdzik appointed vice-principal of Westminster Elementary School

Lethbridge School District No. 51 is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Gomke-Prawdzik as vice-principal of Westminster Elementary School, commencing the 2019/2020 school year.

Gomke-Prawdzik is an energetic and talented educator who sparks passion in everyone she works with. Unwavering in her commitment to meet the needs of all learners in the classroom, she goes above and beyond with her teaching, facilitating and modeling of inclusive practices. She believes that optimal learning experiences come to fruition in balanced classrooms where children are engaged, challenged, and able to access curriculum.

Gomke-Prawdzik is a collaborative professional who fosters effective and enduring relationships with all members of the school community. She is very proactive in developing student and parent relationships and infuses the school culture with positivity.

Gomke-Prawdzik brings a number of skills and credentials to her leadership position including experience in delivering professional learning, Level B assessment administration and a host of committee work contributions at the school and District levels.

She is also an active volunteer in co-curricular activities at the school and community levels. Simply put, Lisa loves engaging with children.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with the staff, students and families of Westminster School,” said Gomke-Prawdzik. “I believe that strong partnerships, trusting relationships and open channels of communication foster a positive school community of learners. By providing flexible and innovative learning spaces, inclusive practices and diverse co-curricular opportunities, students will be given the opportunity to become critical, innovative and creative thinkers. I have a heart for the community that Westminster serves, and I look forward to supporting the ongoing learning of all students in my role as vice-principal.”

Gomke-Prawdzik possesses a breadth of experience at the elementary and middle school levels. Her first assignment in Lethbridge School District No. 51 was at Wilson Middle School. This was followed by spending 16 years at Mike Mountain Horse Elementary School teaching grades 3, 4 and 6. She returned to Wilson Middle School in the role of Learning Support Teacher in 2017. Prior to joining Lethbridge School District No. 51, she worked with Peigan School Board, Rocky Mountain School District and a private ECS program in Calgary.

Gomke-Prawdzik also spent two years in a secondment assignment with the University of Lethbridge, supervising practicum students and teaching in the areas of assessment and evaluation.

She completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Lethbridge followed by a Bachelor of Education. She completed her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Assessment through the University of Lethbridge.
