ICSS Eagles earn 2A girls provincial championship

The Immanuel Christian Secondary School Eagles senior girls basketball team took gold in the 2A girls basketball provincials in High Level.
ICSS lived up to its No. 1 ranking, and swept through the tournament in dominating fashion, which included a huge 81-41 win in the final over No. 2 ranked Glenmary.
Halle Aleman led ICSS with 21 points in the win, while Rylee Van’t Land chipped in with 15. Taylor Whithage and Hayden Van’t Land each scored 13 points.
The Eagles earned a first-round bye and began the tournament with a 68-31 quarterfinal win over No. 8 David Thompson.
An 81-38 victory in the semifinals over No. 5 Three Hills sent the Eagles into Saturday night’s championship game.
The ICSS roster included Shanika Veenendaal, Halle Aleman, Taylor Withage, Norah Dekens, Hayden Van't Land, Mac Konynenbelt, Hannah Klingenberg, Nyomi Heins, Rylee Van't Land, Yar Biar and Geeorgia Schooten.
Head coach Mike Greeno was joined by assistants Norm Dekens, Erin Barwegen, Kirsten Barwegen and Eryn Aleman.
