Senator Joyce Fairbairn Middle School principal Bill Bartlett announces his retirement

Congratulations and best wishes to Bill Bartlett, who has announced he will be retiring at the end of this school year.
Bartlett marks the close of his career with Lethbridge School Division as a highly-regarded leader and educator who has made a difference to the lives of students in every role he assumed over the years. Senator Joyce Fairbairn Middle School, where Bartlett is currently principal, will carry the mark of his leadership for years to come.
His skill at building strong community, establishing a culture of excellence and establishing a foundation of care came to the forefront when he opened the doors of this school with his leadership team and staff in the fall of 2017. His leadership in different schools over 22 years is characterized by a collaborative approach and working with all stakeholders with the upmost respect and integrity.
Bartlett’s work has been visionary and focused on building the best place possible for students and staff to engage in learning. He is a consummate project builder who transforms schools purposefully and collectively. These are incredible skills that he will carry into retirement, as his journey of making a difference to others will never truly close.
During 32-plus years with Lethbridge School Division, Bartlett has been principal at Senator Joyce Fairbairn, LCI and Dr. Probe Elementary School. He also served as Assistant Principal at Gilbert Paterson Middle School and Dr. Probe Elementary School. His teaching and leadership experience spanned elementary, middle school and high school. His insight and wisdom into the continuum of learning will be missed by his colleagues.
The individuals who will be part of his future plans will have the privilege of engaging with an individual who is heart to the core.
“It has been my absolute pleasure to serve the school communities that I have had the pleasure of working with during my career,” said Bartlett.
