Van Roon appointed vice-principal at Lethbridge Christian School

Lois Van Roon has been appointed vice-principal for Lethbridge Christian School.
Van Roon deeply values effective relationships as foundational for building positive school culture, and takes the time to observe, support and connect with classroom communities. She is grounded in the belief that all students should have access to optimal learning experiences, and that the provision of these experiences are accomplished through collaboration among members of the school community. Her deep knowledge of inclusive practice models, such as Universal Design for Learning and Response to Intervention, will serve the school well. Committed to the student engagement and growth, she models and support innovative and inclusive practices in her classroom, as part of her role as Learning Support Teacher, and as a mentor. Recognized as an outstanding educator, Van Roon looks forward to supporting staff and being part of leading a learning community.
“I am honoured to accept the position of vice-principal/LST at Lethbridge Christian School,” said Van Roon. “I am thrilled to continue my journey of leading and learning with the staff, students, and families of the Lethbridge Christian School community. My career as an educator in the Lethbridge School Division has been tremendously rewarding, filled with positive relationships. Along the way I have met many influential leaders, compassionate and caring teachers and staff, and amazing students. I have been a part of several exceptional learning communities throughout Lethbridge and I am thankful to be entrusted with this new opportunity. I wanted to widen my sphere of influence through formal leadership, but what will always ground me is my faith and the knowing that life is about continuous learning. For those who have believed in me and mentored me along the way as both leader and educator, I must pause and say thank you. Lethbridge Christian School, I look forward to learning and working alongside all of you!”
A reflective practitioner and committee professional, Van Roon has a history of engaging in professional learning as well as delivering professional learning to others, particularly in the areas of literacy and inclusion. She has a breadth of experience as a successful elementary teacher, including experience with early literacy support, team teaching and combined grades. Her most recent role is at Lakeview Elementary School as the Learning Support Teacher.
Van Roon started her post-secondary pursuits at Capernwray Harbour Bible Centre and then completed her Bachelor of Education at the University of Manitoba. She recently completed her Master of Education in Literacy with the addition of leadership studies through the University of Lethbridge.
