About Me

Welcome to G.S. Lakie Middle School and to one of the most exciting educational opportunities your children will have during their educational careers. I have been in education for 34 years and 24 of those years have been in administration.  This qualifies me to be one of the most experienced (or perhaps “Oldest Gator”) in the Lakie Swamp! I taught at Nicholas Sheran for 1 year, Wilson Middle School for 13 years, Gilbert Paterson Junior High for 4 years, Hamilton Jr. High for 3 years and finally, G.S. Lakie for the past 13 years.   I graduated from the University of Lethbridge in Education and also received a Masters in Administration and Curriculum from the University of Gonzaga.

I have been the principal of Lakie since its opening in the fall of 2003 and have loved every moment of this experience. I had a vision to create a school that would provide opportunities for the students to have success in the academic subjects while still exploring their talents in the arts and athletic areas of education.  I introduced the Seattle Pike Place Fish Market “Fish Philosophy” (Being There, Choosing Their Attitude, Making There Day and Play Together) to the staff before we even opened the Lakie doors. Throughout the past 13 years, the staff, students and community have embraced the philosophy and helped make Lakie the school it is today. I believe that every child should have equal opportunity to experience all of Lakie’s amazing academic, arts and athletics programs and I work hard at making this happen.

I invite our Lakie families to get involved in your children’s educational experience-the more you put into it, the better the reward.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or positive comments regarding the staff or school.  Together, we can make your child’s Lakie experience a positive and successful one.
