Lethbridge School District No. 51 unveils a new logo

Lethbridge School District No. 51 has a new look.

The finalization of the logo wraps up a two-year process, which began following the 2017 Town Hall meeting.

Soon after, the Board engaged in a process to develop new mission and vision statements. Once those were developed, the Board explored possibilities for a new visual representation for the District. Over the course of the last year, the Board has explored potential images for the purposes of developing a new logo.

The logo not only represents the District’s Mission (Lethbridge School District No. 51 is inclusive, forward-thinking and accountable for engaging students in quality learning experiences that develop strong foundations, innovative minds and responsible citizens) and Vision (Learners are innovative thinkers who are successful, confident, respectful and caring), but is also representative of Lethbridge’s historical and geographical features.

Black represents coal and Lethbridge’s famous High Level Bridge, while green represents the rolling prairie landscape. The two shades of blue represent the Old Man River, which flows through the city, along with the blue skies which frequent Lethbridge, a city known for being one of the sunniest spots in all of Canada.

The logo is also representative of knowledge, in the form of an open book, a book which is being blown open by a westerly wind.

“Recognizing it was time for a refresh, we are proud to take the symbolic step in presenting our new logo as part of the continual evolution our school district,” said Board Chair Clark Bosch. “We continue to remain respectful of where we have been, committed to where we are and thrilled with where we are going in our efforts to provide the best education possible for the students of Lethbridge.”

The logo redesign also includes a “51” alternative logo, along with the new main logo for the District.
