Chinook Coyotes set to host half of Super South 2018 volleyball tourney

Chinook High School will play host to half of the Super South 2018 volleyball tournament this weekend.

A total of 24 teams will be in Lethbridge this weekend, as both the boys and girls tournaments will feature 12-team fields.

Chinook will host the boys portion of the tournament, while Catholic Central’s West Campus will host the girls.

The exception will be Friday morning, when both Chinook teams take the court at 10:30 a.m. in a pair of matches as Chinook to open the tournament. The boys will face Magrath in the opener, while the girls are set to take on Strathcona.

The boys play Cardston at 12:45 p.m. at Chinook, while the Coyotes girls face Holy Trinity at CCH. Play continues with 5:15 p.m. matches, as the Coyotes boys and girls teams both take on Salisbury. Friday’s play wraps up at 7:30 p.m. for the Chinook teams with matches against Foothills.

On Saturday, the Coyotes teams will both battle McCoy in matches set for 9:30 a.m.

Quarterfinal action begins with matches at 2 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., before the semifinals at 4:15 p.m.

Bronze-medal matches are set for 5:30 p.m. and the championship matches will be played at 6:30 p.m.
