Winston Churchill wins the local Give Life High School Blood Challenge

Canadian Blood Services runs the Give Life High School Blood Challenge on an annual basis.

Winston Churchill High School donated 90 units between September of 2016 and May of 2017 for the challenge. WCHS was the winner of the local challenge between the city schools, which also included Chinook and LCI.

Churchill collected 90 units of blood, which was tops for the Lethbridge region. As a result, the school received an award from CBS on Thursday, which included an assembly that featured former WCHS student James Crabb.

Crabb shared a story about how blood donated played a major role in saving the lives of his baby boy and his wife, who had complications during the delivery of the couple’s son.

Crabb’s son required five blood transfusions over approximately four and a half months in the NICU at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary.
