Chinook Coyotes golf team recognized by Board for provincial championship

The Lethbridge School District No. 51 Board of Trustees recognized the Chinook High School Coyotes Golf team Tuesday afternoon.

The team won the Alberta School Athletic Association Provincial Boys 3A/4A Team Championship on Sept. 25 and 26 at The Links (Spruce Grove) and The Stony Plain Golf Course.

The two-day competition saw Chinook card of combined score of 224 on day one, as the Coyotes held a three-shot lead over the St. Joseph Catholic team that shot a 227.

Chinook’s score improved with a 216 on the second day, for 440, which gave the Coyotes a commanding win over second-place St. Paul, whose team finished with a two-day score of 458.

Team members were invited to the Board meeting on Oct. 24 to receive congratulations from the Board, which included a certificate of recognition.

The Chinook team included Ethan Campbell, Mason Harder, Jonas Nelson and Rylie Seaman, along with coach Bruce Carbert. The Board received the presentation as information.
