Daytona Homes donates funds towards Ready, Set, Go! Back to School Fair

For 10 years, Daytona Homes Lethbridge Ltd. has been raising funds for school backpack programs.

This year, the master home builder raised $40,485, money which will be split between Lethbridge School District No. 51 and Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate Regional Division No. 4.

On Thursday morning, Daytona general manager Guy Bellis and sales and inventory co-ordinator Chantel Obara dropped by The Education Centre to drop off a cheque for $23,862 to Lethbridge School District No.51, to go towards the Ready, Set, Go! initiative.

The annual Lethbridge Back to School Fair, which involves both Lethbridge School District No. 51 and Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate Regional Division No. 4, assists students with items such as backpacks, school supplies, clothing and haircuts, in preparation for the school year ahead.

Bellis added he was pleased to help support local students, and added Daytona’s fundraising success would not be possible without the support of the community.

“We’re just very appreciative of the support we have garnered from our trades and supply community,” he said, as he mentioned this year’s campaign also saw the westside No Frills location take donations at the till to support Daytona’s backpack program.

Obara added 100 per cent of the proceeds collected by Daytona go to the city’s two school districts to help students in need.
