New vice-principal appointed for Galbraith Elementary School

Lethbridge School District No. 51 is pleased to announce Andy Tyslau as Vice-Principal at Galbraith Elementary, commencing in the 2017/2018 school year.

Andy’s leadership is characterized by an unwavering commitment to students, unbridled enthusiasm and the instructional knowledge necessary to support diverse classrooms. A life-long learner, Andy is passionate about supporting those who are new to the profession, as demonstrated through his work with the Teacher Induction Program committee and during his University of Lethbridge secondment.

Having developed expertise in a number of areas, including technology and inclusive learning, Andy will be a great asset for the students, families and staff of Galbraith.

“I am very excited to be joining the staff and school community of Galbraith Elementary!  As a father of three young girls, I am eager to join in the energy and excitement that comes with working with young children.  I am looking forward to meeting and collaborating with the amazing staff of Galbraith.”

Highly committed to both his profession and the community, Andy has served on the Teacher Education and Certification ATA Council, has volunteered to be the District’s United Way Coordinator, and is always willing to assist with other District leadership committees.

Andy is currently Acting Vice-Principal at G. S. Lakie Middle School. Prior to assuming an administrative leadership role at G. S. Lakie, Andy was a Learning Support Teacher, Middle School and Outreach teacher.

Andy completed his Bachelor of Education degrees from the University of Lethbridge, majoring in Sciences. He earned a Master of Education degree (Education Leadership) from the Gonzaga University.
