Senator Buchanan visits St. Paul School for Neighbour Day event
On Thursday, grade 1-5 students from Senator Buchanan Elementary School traveled to Buchanan’s "neighbour school" St. Paul School, for the second annual Neighbour Day celebration.
This tradition began last year when the Senator Buchanan students and the community fundraised books to donate to the new library at St. Teresa of Calcutta School upon its opening.
Neighbour Day is an opportunity to celebrate the fact the Lethbridge School District No. 51 and Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate Regional Division No. 4 schools are all part of one bigger north Lethbridge community, and together have strength in their diversity.
Students from the two schools participated in a number of outdoor activities throughout the afternoon, which finished with St. Paul and Senator Buchanan students joining together to sing O! Canada, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada's nationhood.
