Wong appointed vice-principal at WCHS for 2017/18 school year
Lethbridge School District No. 51 is pleased to announce the appointment of Tracy Wong as vice-principal at Winston Churchill High School.
Renown for her deep care to students and staff, and doing whatever it takes to keep students on the path to graduation, Wong will be expanding her administrative experience with a move from Chinook High School as vice-principal to the vice-principal position at Winston Churchill, commencing the 2017-18 school year.
“I am excited for the opportunity to return to Winston Churchill High School,” said Wong. “I look forward to giving back to a school community that has given me so much. At the heart of my beliefs as an educator and leader is a profound commitment to a growth mindset. I believe wholeheartedly in our youth. They inspire me every day.”
Wong is an insightful leader who possesses a deep understanding of scaffolding learning for success. She is a skilled collaborator who understands the importance of supporting a culture of growth, and creating environments that foster ownership and deep care for one another.
Wong holds the strong belief we can support students to own their learning, think critically and creatively, and that we have a role in preparing our students for greatness. Collegiality and teamwork are of upmost importance to Wong, and she has a strong commitment to building positive, nurturing and lasting relationships with staff, students and parents.
Possessing a breadth of experience in a variety of roles, Wong has been a Teacher Counsellor, Learning Support Teacher, English as a Second Language program co-ordinator and classroom teacher at Winston Churchill prior to her leadership role for seven years at Chinook High School. This diverse experience has allowed her to develop skills in leadership, capacity building and staff development.
Wong has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge, and was awarded her Master of Arts in Leadership and Administration from Gonzaga University. Students at Winston Churchill will be well served by this leader who cares deeply and approaches her role with passion and energy.
