LCI set for 50th Annual Green and Gold Men’s Basketball Tournament

Some of the top high school basketball teams in the province will descend upon Lethbridge this weekend for the 50th Annual Green and Gold Men’s Basketball Tournament at Lethbridge Collegiate Institute.

The host Rams will get things started with a Friday game at 11:30 a.m. against the Bishop Grandin Ghosts, which will be followed by a 1:30 p.m. match-up between Father Lacombe and Jasper Place.

At 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Raymond and Notre Dame will battle it out, just before a 5:30 p.m. game that will feature Medicine Hat and Bishop McNally.

Competition gets underway at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with games at LCI and Catholic Central. For the host LCI squad, a win in the Friday-morning game will put the Rams in the semifinal game at 11 a.m. on Saturday against the Father Lacombe-Jasper Place winner. A loss in that 11:30 a.m. Friday game will put the Rams in the consolation semifinal at 9 a.m.

The winners of Friday’s Raymond-Notre Dame and Medicine Hat-Bishop McNally games will play Saturday in the 1 p.m. semifinal contest. The championship game is set for 7 p.m.

The consolation final is set for 3 p.m., while other Saturday games are set for 1 p.m. at Catholic Central and 5 p.m. at LCI.
