Video Conferencing in Secondary Schools

In fall 2010, all middle schools and high schools will have a PolyCom HD 1080p videoconference suite connected to the SuperNet/Government of Alberta videoconference network, to the Internet. And to the global research networks.

Equitable student access is assured in all middle schools and high schools for making videoconference connections within the district, beyond the school and district within the province or globally.

Two lead teachers per secondary school (i.e. 16 teachers) will work with the Director of Technology, the Education Technology Coordinator, the IT coordinator, the Help Desk support analyst, two senior NOC technicians, and five level eight technicians on detailed inservice sessions during the 2010/2011 school year on videoconference etiquette,  tips and tricks, dialling schemas, booking multipoint conferences on the Service Alberta GXVC1000 SuperNet PolyCom bridges, promising practices and collaborative program planning among schools.  Interested teachers will be able to work with lead teachers and their Level 8 technician in respective schools on videoconference sessions.
